Strip flanges are obtained by cold rolling the strip through the rolls of the machine. The flange may consist of a single piece of strip, or of halves, or of several parts. All parts of the flange are securely welded together. Flanges with a diameter of 225 mm or more are made in the following way: the corner is cold rolled between the rollers of the machine. Next, the ends of the corner are fastened by welding.
Using a punching machine, oval holes are made on the flange (along the circumference). The finished flange is covered with primer.
The process of attaching a flange to a duct or fitting is called flanging. The quality of a flanged product depends on the reliability of the connection between the product and the flange. To flange a round part, a ridge is made along its diameter at a distance of 15-20 mm from the edge. The flange is put on the product in such a way that it rests on the ridge. The metal emerging from the top of the flange is tapped in a circle, thus firmly pressing the flange.
Round flanged products are connected to each other using a bolted connection. The flanges of the products are aligned so that the holes match. Next, fix the connection with a bolt and nut. It is recommended to use sealant between flanges.
